Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan's Comment on the Resolution on the 60th Anniversary of the Conclusion of the World War II Passed by the Japanese Diet
2005-08-03 00:00

Q: The House of Representatives of the Japanese Diet recently passed a resolution on the 60th anniversary of the conclusion of the World War II. What's the comment of the Chinese Government?

A: The aggression war launched by the Japanese militarism brought grave catastrophes to the Chinese people, the people in other neighboring Asian countries, as well as the Japanese people. At the year which marks the 60th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression by Chinese people and the world anti-fascist war, Japan reasonably should express deep remorse on its aggression history of militarism, earnestly draw a lesson from it and properly handle the issue of history. Regrettably, for a period of time, some political forces in Japan have been doing their utmost to deny, whitewash or even glorify the history of aggression. Such retrogressive actions on the issue of history have no future.
