A batch of COVID-19 vaccines provided as aid by the Government of China arrived in Amman on the evening of April 25. The Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Chen Chuandong and Jordanian Minister of Health Firas Al-Hawari greeted the vaccines and signed the handover certificate.

Ambassador Chen said that since the outbreak of the pandemic, China and Jordan have stood shoulder to shoulder in fighting the pandemic, helping each other. China has overcome difficulties of huge domestic demand for vaccines in providing vaccines to Jordan, honouring its commitment to making vaccines as a global public good. Jordan is also in the forefront of international endeavours, actively participating in the clinical trials of Sinopharm vaccines, taking the lead in vaccinating refugees. China will continue to strengthen cooperation with Jordan, and firmly support Jordan in fighting the pandemic and restoring the economy, broaden and deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries and jointly promote the building of a global community of health for all.

Minister Al-Hawari expressed his sincere thanks to the Chinese government for providing vaccine assistance to Jordan in a timely manner. He referred to it as the truest manifestation of friendship between Jordan and China. He said that the vaccines will accelerate vaccination efforts for all people in Jordan.
