Ambassador Chen Chuandong Attends China-Jordan Olive Oil Matchmaking Meeting

China’s envoy to Jordan, Ambassador Chen Chuandong, spoke at China-Jordan Olive Oil Matchmaking Meeting held online on January 28, expressing optimism about prospect of bilateral trade in Jordan’s important agricultural product.

Ambassador Chen highlighted the huge impact of Covid-19 outbreak on international trade and investment and lauded businesses and trade associations of both countries for their active participation in the event and their sincere desire to promote olive oil trade.

Jordan’s olive oil enjoys world reputation and is popular in many markets. China has a strong demand for olive oil and mainly depends on import. China-Jordan cooperation in the olive oil sector holds out great potential and can contribute to economic recovery in wake of the pandemic, said Ambassador Chen.

Rong Weidong, Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce of I/E Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-products, Alberto Mendes, Representative and Country Director of World Food Programme, Fayyad Al Zyoid , Chairman of Jordan Olive Products Exporters Association, and Halim F. Abu Rahmeh, CEO of Jordan Exporters Association also made remarks, expressing support for trade cooperation.

Over twenty suppliers and trading companies from China and Jordan participated in the match-making event.
