Olympics torch completes journey

    A special torch carried around Ireland in support of the country's Special Olympics athletes has completed its journey in Dublin.

    Athletes who carried the torch arrived at the Garda Sports Centre in Westmanstown accompanied by the Garda Mounted Unit. The torch was passed to officers from An Garda Siochana and the PSNI and President Mary McAleese.

    The 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games will take place in Shanghai, China from October 2 to 11, 2007. Over 7,000 athletes, including 143 from Ireland, will compete in 23 different sports over the nine days.
