China's Special Envoy on the Middle East met Jordan's Foreign Minister

Sun Bigan, China's Special Envoy on the Middle East met with Jordan's Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Khatib on July 17. They discussed bilateral relations and the latest political developments in the region particularly in the Palestinian territories.

Sun stressed it is a set policy for China to further develop the friendly relations with Jordan and appreciated the important role Jordan and H.M. King Abdullah II had played to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict and achieve peace in the Middle East. Sun also expressed that the Chinese government was ready, along with the international community, to support the peace process and the realization of a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

 

Khatib stressed Jordan's keenness to maintain close relations with China in various fields.

   

Khatib also underlined the importance of preserving Palestinian national unity and the need to back the Palestinian authority efforts and ease the Palestinian people's suffering through lifting restrictions imposed on them to revive their economy and improve their living conditions.
